THE
CAN OF YAMS
 |
Hilary Caws-Elwitt as Heather Lyme,
Jonathan Caws-Elwitt as Alan Plum, Jennifer Lyn Smith as Delphinia, Bob
DeLuca as Euclid. |
EMTC's 2002 season
kicked off with a one-act farce written by EMTC member Jonathan
Caws-Elwitt (with songs by Caws-Elwitt and Charlie Zayleskie).
"Yams", which was presented on March 24 at the Montrose Theater, is
about an egotistical painter's ridiculous efforts to impress a visiting
gallery owner, while his sardonic sister tries to sort out her love
life -- and her brother's career. This performance was part of an event sponsored by Montrose Restoration Committee.
Directed by Andrea
Lang.

SWEET
CHARITY
This foot-tapping, high-kicking, knock-your-socks off musical has a well-deserved reputation as a hallmark of top-notch production numbers ("If My Friends Could See Me Now", "Big Spender", "I Love to Cry at Weddings", "Rhythm of Life"). It's a challenge to stage, but EMTC rose to this challenge and did justice to this super show, from the overture to the finale. Script by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields.
Left: Charity's dance-hall co-workers [L. to R. Dianna Wayman, Kaitlyn Kurosky, Kitrina Phillips, Jamie Aldrich, Maria Belles, Bridget Nowik, Tracy Rickard.]
Right: Charity [Lynette Daniels] out on the town with Oscar [Joseph Bednarchik].

TONY N' TINA'S WEDDING
This show, created
by Nancy Cassaro, is a revolutionary -- and uproariously funny --
mixture of prepared material and improvisation. You, the audience, are
invited to attend the delightfully tacky wedding of Anthony Nunzio, Jr. and
Valentina Vitale. You arrive, eat dinner, and interact with the actors, who play the parts of the bride and groom, their wacky
families, and the outrageous friends who populate this wild affair.
Very little is scripted, and what happens is anybody's guess -- no two
performances are alike. EMTC's version of Tony n' Tina's Wedding was so popular that its three performances in August of 2002 were supplemented by additional performances in November of 2002.
Directed by Bob DeLuca.
